A FAST-growing property development consultancy is planning to take on more staff.

Expansion plans have been revealed by Wynyard-based Buckley Burnett, which has secured contracts.

Each year our turnover has increased and the challenge for us now is to continue to invest in the right people who will enable us to take Buckley Burnett to the next level. Richard Buckley, director of Buckley Burnett

Directors Andrew Burnett and Richard Buckley have already taken on two people.

That takes the workforce to five and up to five more could be added this year.

Andrew, a former director of Bett Homes, said: “We want to be a one-stop-shop for clients throughout the North-East and beyond, and pride ourselves on being able to deliver the best results cost effectively and smoothly.

“Our expansion and development from the ground up is something we are immensely proud of, and we want that to continue at a natural rate.

“We have plans to bring an additional partner into the company, which would give Richard and I more time to focus on expanding our portfolio of services and development interests.”

He said the firm also wants to recruit more talented people from within the sector “who will support us with the delivery of the diverse range of projects we’re involved with.”

Buckley Burnett is a development consultancy, set up in March 2011, which generated a first-year turnover of £150,000.

That figure has grown year on year to the £600,000 mark in 2015.

Richard and Andrew hope to reach £750,000 by the end of the next financial year.

Richard, who was director of Development at Tees Valley Unlimited before going into partnership with Andrew, said: “We started the business with nothing but felt it was the right time to launch.

“It certainly wasn’t the easy option.

“I had choices and could have gone to work for another organisation, but I really believed we could make this work and I’ve been proved right.

“By utilising our expertise and the extensive contacts we’d built up, we were able to secure both public and private-sector contracts and quickly began to grow.

“Each year our turnover has increased and the challenge for us now is to continue to invest in the right people who will enable us to take Buckley Burnett to the next level.”

Buckley Burnett has had a lead role in high-profile projects including the transformation of Seaton Carew seafront, and the regeneration of Feethams in Darlington.
