Reflecting on a great national accolade

A HARTLEPOOL windows company has shone in style at a national competition.

Sedgefield Windows, in Ullswater Road, was named runner-up in a nationwide competition run by its PVC system supplier REHAU to choose the Fabricator and Installer of the Year.

Bosses described the runner-up achievement as “a great accolade” but Sedgefield Windows are not resting on their laurels and want to win the crown next year.

They also have plans to double the size of the workforce.

Proud company owner Mark Hughes said: “We want to step up to the next level and set our sights to win next year. We are trying to grow the business and bring more employees in this year. We will probably double in size.”

Mark’s hopes are to increase his workforce from eight staff to around 16.

Sedgefield Windows took the fantastic national recognition despite this being the first time they have entered the contest. They beat off competition from almost 200 other window fabricators and installers across the UK who are also REHAU authorised partners.

Mark received a framed certificate to mark the achievement from REHAU’s area sales manager Hormoz Nouri.

The competition was judged by members of the REHAU authorised partner scheme. It was based on the feedback from homeowners on the quality of the windows and doors installed and the service they received.

Mark added: “REHAU is a huge international polymer company which, amongst a vast range of other products, makes moulded bumpers for the likes of BMW and Mercedes; so it certainly knows a thing or two about quality and service.

“It is also the biggest single supplier of PVC window systems in the UK and one in seven PVC windows installed in the UK is manufactured in REHAU profile.

“This makes the award particularly special – it’s highly competitive and judged to a really high standard. It’s fantastic for us to be runners up and we’ll definitely be aiming for the number one spot next year.”

Sedgefield Windows has been established in Hartlepool for almost 20 years, and built a client base almost solely on recommendation.

It opened a showroom in 2012 alongside its factory and has seen business increase significantly since.
