A FORMER pub has been given a new lease of life after re-opening as a fish and chip restaurant.

The Fish Inn has taken over part of what was the Corner House bar, in Hartlepool town centre, creating six new jobs.

Managers hope their location off Victoria Road will attract hoards of hungry shoppers and are confident the new business will be a success.

The restaurant is managed by Jag Ladhar, whose family run a string of fish and chip shops in Newcastle.

Mr Ladhar, 34, said: “Fish and chips have been the family business since 1979 and it has been passed down the generations.

“This is a prime site and we decided to take it on.

“We’ve had a lot of compliments and positive feedback already, and we are just trying to build up a reputation.”

The Fish Inn has a 25-seater restaurant and fries every fish to order for freshness.
