Success in tough climate

A RECRUITMENT firm has helped 280 people find permanent work in its first year since undergoing a management buyout.

The Peterlee-based GEM Partnership has also managed a turnover of more than £6m since it took over Premium People Recruitment.

Bosses say success has come at a time of challenging market conditions and the downward trend in firms taking on new workers.

Managing director Lee Rankin praised the “great team” which had helped to achieve the results.

He added: “They make the difference. Encouraging creativity, innovation and initiative from our staff has proved to be the key to developing and delivering valuable solutions for our clients.”

GEM has also helped 1,600 people to find temporary work in areas such as industrial, contact centre and professional services.

It is targeting expansion by focusing on key sectors such as the chemical process and oil and gas industries.

Mr Rankin added: “We have an exceptional team, are proud of our evolving brand identity and have some exciting developments in the pipeline. Through our growth and ultimate success, we believe we can have a positive influence on our region, the perception of our industry within it and the individuals and businesses we work and interact with.”
