A FORMER Hartlepool woman is well on the way to success by running a business in the world of ecommerce.
Rebecca Charalambous, 39, has set up a company called Sadie Hart which specialises in providing luxury goods and branded specialist gifts.
She lives in the Highgate area of London but was born at Cameron’s Hospital, in Hartlepool, and raised in the town.
Her company has a website on which people can buy products from one of four specialist areas.
Her product range covers silver, candles, homeware and stationery.
Mum-of-two Rebecca said: “I have already had interest from Cyprus and Norway and Dubai. It is amazing what can happen.
“The silver is really popular and so is the stationery with books and Christmas cards.”
Her jewellery section covers two collections including one crafted by a London silversmith.
Rebecca left Hartlepool at 18 when she went to the University of East Anglia in Norwich. She worked for Anglia TV and said: “My background is in television and I got my foot in the door.
“It gave me a grounding in brand awareness and branding. I worked for big companies that are brand-led like Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel.
“I was largely a producer and the job I had for a number of years was with Toni and Guy. I ran their tv channel.”
Rebecca then moved to London and had a family. She is mum to Dexter, aged seven, and Margot, aged four, and is now back in the world of work.
She described Sadie Hart as “luxury gifts” and said the company name came from her own middle name. Her maiden name is Wilson and her married name, she said, was Greek Cypriot.
Rebecca said she had been “taken aback” by the response to the business since it opened at the start of November.
“It has taken up and it is very busy in the lead up to Christmas,” she added.
She said custom has already come from countries including South Africa.
