THE jubilant owners of dockland in Hartlepool are celebrating after landing a national title for investment in their workforce.
The PD Ports Group has scooped the prestigious Development of People award from leading transport industry organisation the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).
The ports and logistics company’s chief executive, David Robinson, collected the honour at a glittering ceremony held at the London Marriot Hotel.
Mr Robinson said: “To win this prestigious award is a real honour.
“We pride ourselves on our group-wide training and development programmes, so are delighted that our efforts are being recognised by such a well respected organisation.
“The programmes we have implemented over the last few years are designed to provide employment opportunities to the Teesside community.
“It also gives everyone in the organisation the opportunity to develop and progress within the company and ensure our team have the tools they need to offer our customers the industry leading services they require.”
He pledged that PD Ports would “continue to invest in its people” both in the Tees Valley and elsewhere.
Judges praised the company for its variety of bespoke training and development programmes.
In the past 10 years, PD Ports has invested more than £4mi in training and development programmes, including apprenticeship, graduate, health and safety and back to work schemes.
