A transport company has appointed a new chairman as it gears up for further growth.

The Nicholson Group in Billingham has appointed Bob Forster as its chairman.

The business founder, David Nicholson, remains as managing director of all businesses within the group and will continue its ethos of investing in development and training, with all staff given opportunities to progress to senior management roles.

Mr Forster added: “People development is compulsory within the Nicholson Group.

“Senior staff will complete a leadership programme, and all warehouse staff and drivers are expected to complete appropriate vocational qualifications.

“Success is measured by maintaining staff and continuing to develop those people within the business.

“The team arededicated and skilled, and have worked hard to create a successful operation, with our Hi-ab business starring and our storage business, Box Clever, at full capacity.”

David Nicholson, who set up the business in 1987, added: “Bob Forster is the ideal person to lead The Nicholson Group.

“He knows our businesses inside out, understands the industry and, most importantly, understands how to manage people.

“We know the scope and nature of the challenges in front of us, but are ambitious and confident as we focus our Board and business competencies on further growth and investment in people and new enterprises.”
