A VEHICLE administrator who has helped thousands of motorists is celebrating 20 years in the job.
Joanne Cook, who comes from Wingate, joined the Evans Halshaw dealership in Peterlee in 1994 on a day she will never forget.
The date was July 4, 1994, and it also marks the date of her wedding anniversary.
Ever since joining the dealersgip, she has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to help thousands of drivers, motorists, all the while building her knowledge and understanding of the industry..
Mum-of-three Joanne, 43, said: “I have seen a lot of changes over the years; both in terms of faces and systems.
“When I started, the way we did things now seems so slow compared to the technology we have now – it’s incredible really.
“I really enjoy working here. There is always something to do and everyone is very friendly. No two days are ever the same, even after 20 years.”
To celebrate Joanne’s service, the dealership presented her with her chosen gift of a watch.
Joanne said: “It’s great to have something practical and with three children to look after, I always have one eye on the clock so it seemed rather fitting. I can wear it every day at work to remind me of my time here and can look ahead to yet more exciting times.”
Peter Nicholson, dealer principal at Evans Halshaw Peterlee, praised Joanne and said the company was “very lucky to have her”.
He said Joanne was “always a smiling, friendly face going about her work with pride, so we wanted to mark her many years with us in suitable style.
“I would like to thank Joanne for all her hard work. Her loyalty has guaranteed that the people of Peterlee receive excellent service as standard, and her commitment to our core values has meant thousands of customers drive away happy.
“She is a real asset to the team.”
