Work to revamp commercial units at Hartlepool Marina costing hundreds of thousands of pounds is almost complete, a developer has said.

The Mandale Group, the property developer behind the regeneration of the marina, is set to complete work on five refurbished commercial units.

Two of the units have already been snapped up, with the firm looking to lease or sell three further units as part of a marina development already populated with various restaurants and bars.

The £500,000 project on Navigation Point has seen the company convert the former headquarters of civil engineering firm Seymour’s, which has moved to purpose-built offices at the nearby Mandale House.

Mandale has invested about £100,000 on each unit to provide air conditioning, lighting systems, kitchen areas and external seating areas, with refurbishment work due for completion before the end of this month.

Deals have already been agreed for the development’s two larger units.

“There is still time to have a new business up and running in time for the busy Christmas period, so we’d strongly recommend booking an appointment to take a closer look.”

Owners of neighbouring café wine bar, How Do You Do?, have agreed a long-term lease of a 2,000sq ft unit for a new bar and bistro, Oh This is Us, while prosecco bar Hello Goodbye is set to open next door.

Mandale believes the three remaining units of various sizes would be an ideal location for a micro bar, restaurant, takeaway, bakery, sandwich shop, amusements, office or betting shop.

Joe Darragh, head of property development for the firm, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for a new commercial venture right at the centre of Hartlepool Marina, one of the North East’s key tourist attractions.

“The 21 existing units within Navigation Point already combine high quality cuisine and a bustling night life.

“In fact, the Marina offers the highest concentration of restaurants anywhere in Hartlepool.

“Thanks to hosting a number of popular restaurant operators and licensed bars, the Marina is becoming a destination venue, so this is an opportunity to become part of a successful commercial zone.

“Such has been the success of How Do you Do? that the owners have committed to another exciting venture within one of the units.
