THOUSANDS of calendars giving residents information about refuse and recycling collections for the next 12 months are being delivered to households.
The calendars, which are being delivered to about 42,000 homes by Hartlepool Borough Council, state when people can expect to have their green bins, blue boxes, blue sacks, brown bins and white polybags emptied.
They also provide details of how collections will be affected by the various Bank Holidays over the next year.
Fiona Srogi, the council’s waste management team leader, said: “Delivery of the calendars started earlier this week and should be completed within a fortnight.
“The calendars should be put somewhere safe for future reference.
“We are keen to continue increasing the amount of household waste that is recycled so it is important that householders know which type of bin or recycling container to use in a given week.”
Officers say that about 41 per cent of Hartlepool household waste is recycled.
The calendars have been designed and printed in-house, and the £1,600 total cost is being covered by income generated from the sale of advertising space.
Council refuse and recycling staff are delivering the calendars.
