Pride of Hartlepool nomination deadline extended

IF you have any Pride of Hartlepool nominations make sure we get them in the next couple of days.

The deadline passed at midnight but we’ll take any outstanding nominations up until the end of this week to make sure nobody misses out.

The Hartlepool Mail’s Pride of Hartlepool Awards honour those exceptional people who make the town the place it is and go that extra mile to improve their communities and the lives of those around them.

Various categories cover every aspect of life including the work of volunteers, community groups, the emergency services, businesses and various organisations in the town.

We are looking for community champions, caring neighbours, environmentalists, charity workers, professionals and people who have impressed their peers, family and friends through sheer determination to overcome adversity.

Young children who have battled adversity or health issues are also being sought for recognition.

The awards also cover sporting, educational, and performing arts achievement.

Friends, family, workmates, neighbours and groups can put forward the people they know have made a difference.

Last year’s inaugural event proved an emotional rollercoaster in which tears of pride and joy freely flowed as people showed they really are Proud to be a Poolie.

Your efforts over the next couple of days could help change the lives of the people you nominate and get them the credit they deserve but don’t usually get.

Unsung heroes go about their daily duties with no thought of praise or publicity so it is up to us to showcase their dedication and determination and highlight their achievements.

Our pride awards are the perfect platform for everyone to do just that.

You can download a nomination form from.hartlepoolmail.co.uk. or pick one up from a number of locations across town.

Forms are available from Mail reception in Wesley Square, Hartlepool, the information kiosk inside Middleton Grange Shopping Centre and the main reception areas at Hartlepool College of Further Education and Hartlepool Sixth Form College.

The awards will be presented at an evening ceremony at Hartlepool College of Further Education on Thursday, March 22.

Anyone wanting further information about the Pride of Hartlepool Awards should contact the Mail’s head of news, Paul Watson, as soon as possible on (01429) 239361 or email paul.watson@northeast-press.co.uk.
