AN athletics club is offering Race For Fitness supporters a fantastic chance to get into shape.

Hartlepool Burn Road Harriers is holding six fitness sessions for people who back the Hartlepool Mail project which aims to get 2,012 people fit by the time the Olympic games open this summer.

The free of charge Burn Road Harriers events will be for people of all ages and abilities who fancy giving running a try, and they start in March.

Burn Road bosses hope the lighter nights and hopefully warmer weather conditions will tempt people along.

David Kirk, chairman of Hartlepool Burn Road Harriers, said: “The sessions are for anyone and not just people who want to take up running.”

The first session will be held at West Hartlepool Rugby Club on Wednesday, March 14, from 6pm.

The session will involve runs around the rugby pitches, over to Summerhill or out and about around West Park, depending on individual fitness levels.

David said: “If people want to come along and walk round the field to lose some weight, they can do that.”

Anyone wanting to try out the sessions, or find out more about them or the Burn Road Harriers, can contact David on 07775816766 or email chairman@hartlepoolburnroad.co.uk
