HARTLEPOOL Mail head of features Chris Cordner is two weeks in to his own mega challenge as part of the paper’s Race For Fitness campaign.

The 51-year-old is attempting to cover the equivalent of the 874-mile distance from John o’ Groats to Land’s End between now and the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on Friday, July 27.

But he’s doing it by running and walking on a treadmill – both at home and in the gym.

“So far, I have run, walked and hobbled through 60 miles,” said Chris. “The aches and pains are mounting, but there’s no way I am giving up now.”

Regular updates on Chris’s challenge will appear in the Hartlepool Mail.
