A WOMAN leaving for work was forced to call the fire brigade after spotting smoke coming from her car bonnet.
A crew from Peterlee Fire Station was called to Fairclough Court, in Peterlee, where the woman’s Vauxhall Zafira had sustained a fault in its engine.
A station spokesman said a fire had broken out in the engine and the car was ok apart from damage to the engine and the vehicle’s wiring.
The incident happened around 7.40pm yesterday and firefighters were in attendance for 20 minutes.
A crew from the station also attended a rubbish fire at the back of Wingate’s Welfare Park, around 6.15pm yesterday and were at the scene for 20 minutes.
