THREE men were set to be quizzed by police today after allegedly trying to steal a car.
The men, who are all in their early 20s, were arrested on suspicion of the attempted theft of a dark blue Fiesta in Orwell Walk, in the Rift House area of Hartlepool, late yesterday.
Officers say they received a call from a member of the public to say three men had been seen trying to break into the vehicle before they were disturbed.
Police drove to Marlowe Road and arrested the suspects nearby at 11.30pm.
Meanwhile, police have also appealed for witnesses after paint was poured down the side of a VW Golf in Northumberland Walk, in Hartlepool, at 12.50am today.
Police have arrested three different men in their early 20s on suspicion of criminal damage and they were set to be quizzed by officers this morning.
Inspector Bernie Hanson, of Hartlepool Police, said: “I would urge any witnesses to either incidents to contact police.”
