WORKERS at a car parts manufacturer raised £1,300 for Movember following the death of a colleague.

Staff from TRW in Peterlee took part in the event after co-worker Eric Lewis, from Hartlepool, died of cancer.

A company spokesman said: “We are dedicated to supporting charities and causes that will provide assistance to our employees, their families and the wider local community.

“We recently lost one of our valued members of staff to cancer, Eric Lewis, from Hartlepool, who worked for TRW for over four years and is sadly missed by all.

“He was a key member of our workforce who was working on one of our new product lines.

“The company is very much committed to encouraging involvement in campaigns such as Movember. We have also recently embarked on the Better Health At Work Award, part of which has involved us running various health awareness sessions in relation to areas such as mental health, stress, cancer and issues surrounding alcohol.

“We feel that embarking on this award will help us to provide more extensive health advice to support our workforce in leading a healthier, more active lifestyle and seeking early medical intervention into potential issues.”
