Cat rescued from gap

A PET cat had a lucky escape after getting stuck between two walls for more than three hours.

Firefighters from Peterlee Fire Station were called to the rear of a house in Lancaster Hill after reports of a cat stuck in a 10 inch gap between a kitchen extension and a raised patio.

The brown and black cat, which escaped without injury, had slid down the gap and crews spent three hours chipping away at the patio using a hammer and chisel.
