A TRANSPORT company is urging people to ditch their cars and hop on board its buses.
Stagecoach North East, in partnership with Arriva, has launched its Catch The Bus Week to encourage residents of Hartlepool to drive down car use and use public transport instead.
Company bosses have joined forces with sustainable transport group Greener Journeys to promote the benefits of bus use through the second annual Catch the Bus Week.
The initiative will run until Sunday.
It aims to highlight the health, environmental and financial benefits of using the bus more often.
Activities include a golden ticket competition, where one lucky winner from each depot will win a year’s free travel for the area of their choice.
In addition, Stagecoach North East is running an online competition on Twitter, where customers who tweet that they have seen a special sticker on a particular bus can win prizes, including promotional items and travel vouchers.
Bus driver Brian Arnold won a competition to be the face of the campaign.
His face will appear on buses across Hartlepool and Teesside and on outdoor advertising to encourage commuters to “catch the bus or break a driver’s heart”.
