FIREFIGHTERS tackled a large pile of rubbish that was alight at a compound.
Two crews from Stranton Fire Station spent two hours putting out a rubbish fire at the back of Joe’s Skips in Brenda Road, in Hartlepool.
A station spokesman said crews were at the scene for two hours due to access problems and because of a dog being loose at the site.
Police were at the yard and the fire service spokesman said the cause of the fire, which happened around 9pm on Saturday, is being investigated.
A crew from Stranton station also attended a rubbish fire on a field off the town’s Macaulay Road, and spent 10 minutes dousing the flames around 5.30pm, also on Saturday.
Firefighters from the station were also sent to tackle a bin that was on fire in York Road, next to the Domino’s pizza shop, around 3.40pm yesterday and crew members spent 10 minutes in attendance.
