Celebration event in school

PRIMARY school youngsters will have their efforts rewarded at a celebration of achievement event tomorrow.

Pupils at West View Primary School, in Davison Drive, Hartlepool, will have their academic performance and efforts in sport and the arts recognised at the event.

Steve Munby, chief executive of the National College of School Leadership, part of the Department for Education, will be the guest at the event.

Mr Munby began his career as a secondary school teacher in Birmingham before moving to the North -East.

He has since worked as a consultant on assessment and records of achievement for the nine North-East local authorities before becoming an inspector within the education department in Oldham.

He held a number of other roles before taking up his current position in 2005.

West View headteacher Andy Brown (left) said: “I have been headteacher at West View for almost 17 years now and one of the many reasons I have maintained my momentum and love for the role is through the influence of Steve Munby.

“It is a privilege to have Steve coming along to the event.”
