BUDDING genealogists are being offered the chance to delve into their family’s history at an upcoming event.
Hartlepool’s Friends of North Cemetery voluntary group is organising the event to help people with no previous experience dig into their past.
The free session at Hartlepool Central Library is open to people from all areas of the town and the friends group hopes it will help their own project to document the history of the North Cemetery.
Group secretary Julie Rudge said: “We want to give people the skills to start the process of looking into their own family history and, who knows, some people might find out along the way that they have relatives buried in the cemetery.
“That would certainly be of particular interest us.”
The Friends group also wants to hear from people who know that they have relatives buried in North Cemetery.
The plan is to record their stories and include them a new Book of Interment for the cemetery.
The session is on Wednesday, September 18, from 6pm-8pm. For more details about the session contact Irene Cross at the hartlepool Borough Council on (01429) 855560 or at email@example.com
