STAFF at a community centre are encouraging residents to update their skills at an education open day.
The Jutland Road Community Centre, in Jutland Road, Hartlepool, is hosting the open day on Tuesday, November 5 between 9.30am and 1.30pm.
The education open day is aimed at people looking for the opportunity to update their skills.
Owton Fens Community Association (OFCA) and Sunderland College are putting together the event where staff from OFCA and the college will be on hand to talk with people about the new training opportunities due to start at Jutland Road.
The centre is planning to offer a variety of courses and classes that will help people in their personal life and also for those looking to boost their job prospects.
Free courses include maths or English, customer service, business administration, equality and diversity, mental health awareness, safe handling of medicines, money management and ICT level one, two or three accredited.
All qualifications are free of charge to users of the Jutland Road centre and their friends and family.
Many of the courses are self-study courses that can be done at home but people will receive all the help they need from staff at the centre or via email or telephone contact with the course tutor.
Organisers say the classes are fun, free and offer the chance to learn with their friends in a relaxed environment.
All classes take place at the OFCA Community Centre, in Jutland Road, at times to suit people.
A spokeswoman for the centre said: “The courses are fully accredited, and staff and information, advice and guidance workers will be available on the day.”
Anyone interested is asked to go along to the open day on Tuesday, November 5 at any time between 9.30am and 1.30pm.
For more information about the new courses people can call the centre on (01429) 285694 or (01429) 283187.
