‘Charity’ diners thanked

A FUNDRAISING restaurateur has thanked diners after they helped him top last year’s charity total with days to spare.

Krimo Bouabda holds a raffle at his three Hartlepool Marina eateries every year for the NSPCC.

He launched the competition at Portofino, Casa del Mar and Krimo’s at the beginning of December and was hoping to beat last year’s total of £1,800.

And with just days to go before the draw on New Year’s Eve, he has made it with £1,930 worth of tickets being snapped up by diners vying to win three £50 meal vouchers.

Algerian-born Krimo said: “Last year’s total has already been beaten with a few days to go. Thank you.”

The businessman has raised more than £20,000 in the 12 years he has run the competition for the children’s charity, which he chose because of the link between Christmas and young people.
