A POPULAR pub is opening its doors for a double serving of charity nights in the coming month.
The Causeway, in Stranton, Hartlepool, hopes to raise both awareness and funds for the Butterwick Hospice, in Stockton, and Wish House Foundation.
Landlord Shaun Bell said: “They are both really great charities so it’s obviously good to do something for them. Butterwick Hospice is a local charity and there’s a lot of interest towards it from people around here so we should get a good turnout.
“The Wish House deals with terminally ill children. It’s an unfortunate sad fact of life, but that doesn’t mean we can’t try and do something about it and help people who deserve help.”
The first event is a karaoke event taking place on Friday, August 12, at 7.30pm in aid of Butterwick Hospice.
The second event is a race night taking place on Saturday, August 28, at 8pm in aid of the Wish House Foundation.
Wish House Foundation raises money for children born with Fanconi Syndrome. The rare genetic disorder has an impact on the liver and kidneys, and those affected are not expected to live beyond the age of nine.
Shaun added: “Everyone is more than welcome and we hope to put on a couple of really fantastic nights. The main thing is that everyone has a great time, and if we can raise some money as well, all the better!”
