A CHARITY has paid tribute to everyone in Hartlepool who helped make a fundraising appeal for a little boy a huge success.
Epilepsy Outlook joined forces with the Hartlepool Mail last summer to launch the Callum’s Dream campaign.
The aim was to raise £5,000 so that two-year-old Callum Smith could have a sensory room in his Laird Road home.
The total was smashed within a month of the appeal and more than £12,000 has now been raised.
As the year came to an end. Epilepsy Outlook operations manager Jacqui Gettings paid tribute to the numerous supporters of the campaign.
She praised the people of Hartlepool for making a dream come true.
Jacqui added: “With the great news of Callum now enjoying his new sensory bedroom, Epilepsy Outlook would like to add a huge thank you to our members, volunteers and supporters who helped promote the appeal since July.
“The staff and management committee would also like to thank the Hartlepool Mail and its readers for supporting this remarkable little boy.
“Epilepsy Outlook wishes Callum continued good health into the new year to enjoy his own special room.”
Callum’s story gripped Hartlepool when we told how he needed a sensory room to help him develop.
He needs round-the-clock care from his parents, Zoe Neesam, 21, and Luke Smith, 23 who are registered as his carers
We launched the Callum’s Dream appeal in association with town charity Epilepsy Outlook to raise £5,000 to pay for the room.
Our readers have now raised more than £12,000 and it will all make a huge difference to a little boy who has spent more than a quarter of his life in hospital.
Because of his health problems which include epilepsy, reflux problems, and visual impairment, the appeal goes on.
