A T-SHIRT produced to raise money for three cancer charities is proving popular with 100 sold in the first week.
Hartlepool firm of solicitors, Smith and Graham, has teamed up with ceremonial mayor, Labour councillor Stephen Akers-Belcher, to launch the T-shirt which features the famous Hartlepool monkey legend in the design along with the words Pool Together To Bear Cancer.
Just a week after the £5 T-shirts went on sale, 100 have been snapped up, boosting the appeal by £500.
All of the proceeds will be divided between MacMillan Cancer Support, Pansies Breast Cancer Support Group and The Denise Taylor Cancer Trust.
Coun Akers-Belcher, said: “I am delighted with the support so far for the T-shirt and already we’ve sold 100.”
Steven Horsley, a partner with Smith and Graham Solicitors, said: “The majority of families in Hartlepool will have experienced the trauma and pain that cancer can bring and I sincerely hope that more people buy the T-shirt so that as much money as possible can be raised.”
They are available from Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience, Hartlepool Art Gallery, Church Square and the Civic Centre.
