WOMEN across Hartlepool have proved they were keen to get something off their chest to help out a store’s charity drive.

Bonmarche, which has a shop in Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, launched a nationwide bra amnesty to help raise cash for Breast Cancer UK.

The store acted as a collection point for any unwanted bras, and will weigh them all in before converting the weight in pounds to cash.

That money will be handed over the Breast Cancer UK, and then the underwear will be shipped over to Africa.

Staff at the town centre store have been overwhelmed by the amount of bras which have been handed in, and the collection is still taking place for anyone who can help out.

Alison Usher, who runs the Bonmarche store in Hartlepool, said: “We have had five a half sacks worth of bras sent in so far, which is an absolutely unbelievable amount for us.

“I have no idea how many bras are in there, there must be hundreds of them which have come in.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the ladies who have been into the shop to hand over their old bras.

“If anyone else would like to help then we would love to see them down at the store with their bra.”
