A train firm has had a cheeky dig at out-going Newcastle manager Steve McClaren.

The Newcastle boss was sacked this morning after days of speculation over his future at the embattled club.

Virgin Trains East Coast joined in hundreds of fans on Twitter reacting to the news - by offering the coach a trip to his home in York.

Tweeting from its @Virgin_TrainsEC account, it said: "Stevey McLaren! Need out the Toon and a ride home? Check our deals to your home town of York."

It included a link to the company's booking website.
