A POLICE chief has praised the efforts of his drugs squad, saying they are making a “real difference” to people’s lives.
Detective Chief Inspector Jon Green said: “The success of the Dedicated Drugs Unit in the last year is clear to see; dealers sentenced to nearly 40 years of imprisonment and almost a quarter of a million pounds of drugs taken off the streets of Hartlepool.
“But it is the unseen consequence of drugs, the effect that is has on families, communities and the addicts themselves, that often goes unreported.
“That is why the success of the unit is far more wide reaching than just being about those who are sent to prison or the amount of drugs we seize. These successes make a real difference to people’s lives”
