A NURSERY was transformed into a colourful collection of princesses and pirates as children helped to raise more than £200 for charity.
The youngsters at Clever Cloggs Nursery, in Throston Grange Lane, toddled to raise cash as they showed their support for Barnado’s.
They took part in the nationwide Big Toddle fundraiser and joined nurseries from across the country in raising money for the charity.
The kids dressed up in cute outfits, took part in fun crafts and activities and took part in the toddle as they raised £204.64.
Carla Gibson, nursery manager, said she was delighted with the total and praised the children and their parents for supporting the activity.
Carla said: “The kids absolutely loved it.
“They always love dressing up so they really enjoyed the princesses and pirates theme and they thoroughly enjoyed all of the activities, it was a fantastic day.”
The nursery participates in the fundraiser every year and Carla said they always receive excellent support from parents.
She added: “The older children understand what we are raising the money for so it’s really nice for them to know they are supporting other children.
“The pre-school children are a little bit young to understand but we explain to them that they are helping other children who aren’t as lucky as they are.”
This year was the 17th running of the Big Toddle and all of the nurseries taking part received a pack full of information about Barnado’s.
Carla added: “We always like to get involved and take part, the more we raise the better.”
