A TOWN choir gave the Great North Air Ambulance Service a lift with a generous donation of £1,000.
Hartlepool Male Voice Choir raised the money for the life-serving service from the proceeds of December’s Christmas concert.
The Great North Air Ambulance was one of the choir’s chosen charities for 2011.
Members handed over the money to Robert Colgrave from the charity outside the Borough Hall on the Headland where the choir stages some of its biggest concerts.
Duncan Graham, chairman of the choir, said: “The majority of the money was raised from our Christmas concert.
“We also get donations throughout the year and one of our members is an author and sold off some books.
“And instead of sending Christmas cards, members made a donation.
“We always try to support local charities.”
The choir has supported the air ambulance in previous years, along with other good causes including Hartlepool lifeboat service.
This year, it will raise money for Hartlepool’s women’s refuge and the town’s Royal Air Force Association (RAFA).
