RESIDENTS are asked to ensure that they put out their bins and recycling containers on the correct days over Christmas and New Year.
The dates for household green/brown bin and grey bin/blue box collections are:
Bins which would normally be collected today, Christmas Eve, will not be affected though if your bin is on the Thursday round, then this week it will be collected on Saturday.
Friday bins will be taken away on Sunday, then on Tuesday and Wednesday the normal service will be carried out.
There will be no collections on New Year’s Day, with the Thursday route now being done on Friday.
Bins usually taken away on Friday will now be collected on the following day, January 3, with everything going back to normal the following week.
The council has stressed that Christmas wrapping paper, greetings cards containing glitter and polystyrene packaging are amongst the items that cannot currently be recycled in your grey bin.
The Household Waste Recycling Centre in Burn Road will be open 8am-4.30pm every day, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
