A charity is calling on people to jump-er to it and wear their festive finery for a worthy cause.
The Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group is holding only its second ever Christmas Jumper Day.
We did this for the first time last year and got £650. We want schools, workplaces and community centres to support us this timeJamie Allison
Officials are hoping to top the £650 they raised at the debut event last year.
Jamie Allison, from the HSNSG Core Fundraising Group, said: “We’re asking people to make Hartlepool better with a sweater by wearing a Christmas jumper for the day and donating to Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group, so dig out your winter knitwear and join us.”
This year’s fun will be held on December 11 and group organisers are hoping businesses, schools, individuals and community groups will back the cause.”
The aim is to get people to donate money in collection boxes with a suggested £2 for adults and £1 for children and schools.
Jamie added: “If you don’t own a festive sweater you could tinsel up an ordinary jumper, go all out with sequins and snowmen, or even knit your own.”
Companies which are backing the campaign include R n Ls Food Parlour, Northgate Managed Services, English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College, West Park Primary School, Quorum Development Ltd, and HSNSG Clubs.
The Christmas jumper event is only one in a series of activities planned by the charity to mark the festive season.
Others include a visit to Stockeld Park on Sunday, December 13, and a parents and carers Christmas lunch on Friday, December 18.
