THERE’S a treat in store for music lovers next weekend when some of Hartlepool’s most talented young musicians will be presenting a classical concert.
Called A Celebration of Music, it will feature local musicians who this year have received support from the town’s Preston Simpson and Sterndale Young Musicians Trust.
On the bill are Dominic Barberi, Sebastian Karstad, Paul Sild, Nicola Sim, James Slimings, Andrew McAllister and Stacey Powers in a varied programme including cello, piano, guitar and vocal pieces.
Special guest performers at the Town Hall Theatre, in Raby Road, will be Hartlepool Male Voice Choir.
The event will help raise funds for the Trust, which provides financial support to develop the musical talents of young people aged 15-25 who either live in or have other strong links with Hartlepool.
Chris Simmons, chair of the trust, said: “This will be a fabulous concert featuring the cream of Hartlepool’s musical talent – young people who in turn are helping to raise money to support other young musicians in the future.
“We are also very grateful to the excellent and very popular Hartlepool Male Voice Choir and to Hartlepool Borough Council for their continued support for this popular event.”
The show starts at 7pm and tickets cost £8 (or £6 for concessions). Side balcony seats are also available at £7 (or £5 for concessions). Tickets for the show, on Saturday, September 10, are available from Hartlepool Art Gallery and Tourist Information Centre in Church Square or by calling (01429) 890000.
