A NEIGHBOURHOOD is set to be spruced up through a community initiative.
Operation Cleansweep, a multi-agency improvement scheme, is heading to the Jutland Road area of Hartlepool.
Five days of intensive work, under the umbrella of the Safer Hartlepool Partnership, will begin on Monday, January 23.
Hartlepool Borough Council staff will be joined by Housing Hartlepool workers and officers from Cleveland Police and Cleveland Fire Brigade during the course of the week.
Work will include street repairs, pruning of trees and bushes and graffiti removal.
There will also be a clampdown on abandoned and untaxed vehicles, litter, fly-tipping, dog fouling and illegal parking.
Police officers and PCSOs will be carrying out high-visibility patrols while Cleveland Fire Brigade will be offering home fire safety checks.
Trading standards officials from the council will also be mounting “test purchase” operations to identify any shops found to be making under-age sales of alcohol.
Free dog micro-chipping will be on offer at the Jutland Road Community Centre on Wednesday, January 25, from 3.30pm-5pm.
