YOUNGSTERS have a spring in their step after winning a haul of awards at a regional competition.

Trampoliners from across Hartlepool represented their schools at the Tees Valley Final, held recently at Bede College, in Billingham.

Several of the children, who were all secondary school age, are members of the Aeronauts club, which is based at English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College, in Catcote Road.

The finals saw children from Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Stockton compete against each other in a series of categories.

Youngsters were split in boys and girls and into beginners, novice and elite categories.

Dyke House Sports and Technology College pupils Tom Clennett and Jake Martin came first and second respectively in the key stage three beginners category.

Stephen Wittington, from English Martyrs, came first in the key stage three boys novice category and Louie Wood, who attends the same school, came third.

In the key stage three girls novice category Olivia Bennison, from English Martyrs came second.

Meanwhile, Hartlepool Sixth Form College pupils Jessica Jordan and Danielle Fuller came second and third respectively in the key stage five novice girls category.

Emily Kirkham, from Dyke House, won the key stage three elite girls and Elizabeth Cooper, from English Martyrs, came second.

Meanwhile, Grace Marsey, from Dyke House School, came third in the key stage four elite girls category.

New members are always welcome to Aeronauts and classes are run by trampoline coach Linsey Ryder, 32, who has been coaching since the age of 18.

Linsey, who lives with partner Richard Starrs, 36, said: “I was really pleased with the performance of the young people who come to this club and represented their schools at the competition.

“They all did fantastically well and I am very proud of their achievements.

“In total there was about 20 youngsters competing who are Aeronaut members.”
