RESIDENTS were expecting to have their bins collected today after a council suffered “teething problems” with its new collection system.
The grey bins and blue boxes, put out by residents in parts of West Park, Bishop Cuthbert and Deer Park, were not been emptied yesterday due to troubles with new collection arrangements introduced earlier this month – including two vehicle breakdowns.
The bins were due to be collected today, and it is hoped normal service will be resumed the next time the bins are due for collection.
Fiona Srogi, Hartlepool Borough Council’s waste management team leader, said: “I would like to apologise for any inconvenience experienced by residents.
“We will be working on Saturday to ensure that all bins and boxes are emptied as quickly as possible.
“We also expect all bins and boxes to be emptied on time as usual when the next round of collections takes place in a fortnight’s time,” she added.
