Comedy night to expand

COMEDY fans can now enjoy a fortnightly fix of fun and laughter at a hotel.

The Pearl Bar at the Best Western Grand Hotel, in Swainson Street, Hartlepool, will be hosting a comedy night every other Thursday from this week.

A different line-up of comedians from across the UK will take to the stage at every event, from 8pm until late, with Hartlepool comic Nick Banks acting as compere.

Headliner for the next performance is London-based Louisa Omielan, who recently wowed audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe festival with her sell-out show What Would Beyonce Do?

The performing arts graduate, who started doing stand-up in 2008, has also performed across the UK, including gigs in Chicago and Hollywood.

Craig Morris, of Best Western, said: “We started trialling a regular comedy night a short while ago and it’s proven so successful that we’ve now decided to host one every other Thursday and increase the number of performers at each event.

“We hope that this will give comedy fans from across Teesside the chance to see more well-respected and emerging comedy talent from across the UK.”

Entry to the Pearl Bar Comedy night is £1 per person, to be paid on the door.
