THE stabbing of Christine Henderson left the community in Hartlepool where she lived in shock.
The Mail visited Kent Avenue shortly after she was stabbed by former partner Graham Gibson in July.
Neighbours then spoke of the shock as they tried to come to terms with the death of Christine who they described as “shy and retiring”.
One neighbour, a woman who did not want to be named, said: “This is a close community, most of the people around here know each other. But they kept themselves to themselves.
“She must have been living here for around a year, but she only spoke in passing. She seemed nice enough, quite shy and retiring.
“The street is in shock.”
Another woman, who also did not want to be named, said: “She has been here for about a year. She kept herself to herself, but always said hello.
“It’s tragic what’s happened.”
Police were seen going in and out of the house as part of the investigation and carried out forensic tests.
Her home was targeted by burglars just hours after she was killed, it later emerged.
Her killer Graham Gibson, had left the house and was staying with friends in Middlesbrough while he tried to win her back.
