IT’S time to celebrate in Hart Village!
After years of fundraising, Hart Village Hall now boasts a new clock to the delight of residents.
Around three or four years ago the Hart Village Hall committee kick-started a fundraising campaign to raise money for a clock.
The hall has never had a clock before, and committee members say it “really enhances” the facility. The clock, which is illuminated at night, was unveiled during an opening ceremony at the hall.
Carole Bell, 64, a member of the village hall committee who lives in Magdalene Drive in the village with husband, Alan, a parish councillor and treasurer of the committee, said: “We are all really pleased with the clock.
“We have been fundraising for around three or four years now and it has been a real team effort.
“The parish council weighed in with a donation, a few local residents generously made donations and we held fundraising events.
“It really does look lovely at night when it is illuminated.”
The clock isn’t the only new addition at the hall.
Committee chairman David Barker and his wife, Nina, donated a seat to commemorate Hart Women’s Institute (WI).
Hart WI had been a vital part of the village since 1947, but the group sadly folded last year.
Carole, a consumer rights expert who featured in the Mail recently after publishing a new book, added: “We now have the lovely seat in the grounds at the hall.
“It’s a really thoughtful donation and it looks lovely.”
