Hartlepool needs you! Help running triathlon events this summer

Hartlepool Borough Council is looking to recruit people to help with its current Go Tri series and the town's Big Lime Triathlon on Sunday September 25.

The Go Tri events aim to help people take part in and prepare for the Big Lime Triathlon and the next one, Go Tri 3, takes place on Sunday July 3.

Go Tri 3 is a super sprint pool-based triathlon comprising a 200-metre pool swim, a 6km cycle ride and 2.5km run.

Running alongside this event is the Go Tri 3 Accessible Aquathlon which involves a pool swim for 10-20 minutes and a one-mile mobilisation (this can be done by walking, jogging or using a rollator or a wheelchair).

Kay Stokes, Triathlon Activator with the council’s Feel Good in Hartlepool team, said: “Marshals will be placed at strategic points around the course to assist both competitors and spectators.

“We would like to thank those people who have already agreed to give up their time to be volunteer marshals, but if we can recruit just a few more we will be able to have marshals at more points along the course.

“Being a volunteer marshal is an excellent way to find out more about aquathlon and triathlon and we hope it may encourage people to complete an event themselves at some point. To help them achieve this, Feel Good in Hartlepool will offer any Go Tri 3 volunteer marshal half-price entry to Go Tri 4 which takes place on Sunday August 7.”

During the Go Tri 3, the following roads will be closed from 7.45am-9am – Raby Road (southbound) between Middleton Road and Museum Road, Museum Road (eastbound), Clarence Road (northbound) and Middleton Road (westbound).
