Who can tell us more about them? Two of our pictures show the visit of the Duchess of Kent to Horden pit in October 1944.

One shows her with miners safety helmet and overalls, and with regional commissioner Sir Arthur Lambert.

The second photo shows her in the pit cage with miners carefully watching.
