An 11-year-old girl who was knocked down with two of her friends when a car mounted the kerb in Hartlepool is improving.
The schoolgirl was airlifted to hospital with what police describe as ‘serious head injuries’ following the incident in Skelton Street.
She is still in hospital but her condition today has been described as 'improving.'
Another girl, aged 12, suffered a broken leg, while a third girl, also aged 12, sustained minor injuries, when a Ford Focus mounted the kerb at about 3.45pm on Monday afternoon.
Cleveland Police earlier confirmed the 46-year-old man arrested in connection with the serious collision has been questioned and released from custody with no bail conditions.
Emergency services were called to the street after the three girls were struck while it is thought they were walking home from school.
