A HOUSING firm will present its proposals to build 110 new homes in the town at a special meeting being held next week.

Taylor Wimpey UK approached Hartlepool Borough Council and requested a Pre-Application Developer Forum for plans to build the houses on land at Tunstall Farm, near Valley Drive in the West Park area of town.

The meeting will take place next Wednesday, April 16 from 9am.

Pre-Application Developer Forums are part of the council’s One Stop Shop, a pre-application advisory service which provides advice on planning matters prior to the submission of a formal planning application.

There will be an opportunity for councillors and other interested parties such as the Parish Council and Environment Agency to seek clarification on any points or raise issues at the meeting.

Members of the public are welcome to attend and listen to the proceedings but are unable to ask questions.

Chris Pipe, the council’s planning services manager, said: “The forum meetings enable a potential developer to present their planning proposals prior to the submission of a formal planning application.

“It must be emphasised that this is not an opportunity for people to object to the proposal; it’s an opportunity for councillors and interested parties to seek clarification or raise planning issues which should be considered by the developer in any formal planning submission.”

The meeting follows a similar forum, requested by Persimmon last month for a large-scale housing development on land known as the South-West extension which is adjacent to the Fens and Owton Manor areas.

Any interested party wishing to participate in the meeting should contact Gill Scanlon at Hartlepool Council on (01429) 523741 or email in advance of the forum.
