CHILDREN from eleven primary schools made a splash in an annual competition.
The Annual Fun Gala was held at the town’s Mill House Leisure Centre for youngsters from Hartlepool’s primary schools.
The gala is aimed at non-competitive swimmers and involved a range of water activities, all with the emphasis of fun.
It was smiles all round for the children from St Aidan’s Primary School and West Park Primary School as they came joint first.
Sacred Heart Primary School came second and third place was awarded to Eldon Grove Primary School.
The celebrations did not stop there as St Helen’s Primary School won the Sportsmanship Trophy.
Trophies were presented by former GB swimming team manager Brenda Bland, along with Pat Usher, Zoe Rickelton and Ian Gray of Hartlepool Borough Council.
Evelyn Lithgow, Learn to Swim co-ordinator with the council, said: “All of the children enjoyed the series of events which helped improve their confidence in the water.
“The teaching staff were fantastic and helped to make it a great day for the children.
“I’d like to thank everyone involved for helping to make the event a success. This includes the primary swimming teachers and classroom helpers for all their hard work, along with Hartlepool Sixth Form College and Mill House Leisure Centre staff for their support.”
