A HOST of courses will start next week as a school launches its latest selection of community classes.
Everything from business administration to Indian cookery and scrap booking is on offer to people at St Hild’s CE School, in King Oswy Drive.
The school has not long finished its summer selection of community classes and staff were delighted with the response of residents.
But now the next season of courses is set to get underway next Monday and people are being urged to get involved and sign up.
Classes which have proved extremely popular in the past including sewing, cookery on a budget and novelty cake decorating will continue, however a number of sessions will be running at the school for the first time.
A Computers for Beginners class will kick off the programme next Monday, September 23, from 4pm-6pm.
An animation course will be held on Tuesday, September 24, from 6pm-8pm before a selection of classes next Wednesday including digital imaging, salsacise, Egyptian dance and an introduction to business administration.
The classes run at various times during the day and on an evening.
Julie Fletcher, community manager at the school, said: “We have ensured that our popular sessions haven’t changed but at the same time we wanted to offer some new classes and programmes for people to try out.
“Our summer programme was a huge success, we had a lot of people coming along and the feedback was excellent.
“Hopefully we will get a similar response with the new courses starting next week.”
Other sessions which people can sign up to include Introduction to counselling skills, Mentoring, Christmas bauble and decoration making and hairdressing. A small selection of the classes are held at St Bega’s RC Primary School and St Helen’s Primary School, in the town.
