FOUR people were taken to hospital by ambulance after a crash between a car and a HGV on the A179 Hart flyover.
The A179 was blocked at the junction with the A19 following the collision, which happened at 6.50pm today.
Two people had to be cut from a Nissan Qashqai by firefighters while another two managed to climb to safety.
A crew from Stranton fire station carried out a full extrication of the Nissan, cutting the roof and doors from the vehicle.
All four occupants were taken to the University Hospital of North Tees due to possible spinal injuries.
Police are still on the scene carrying out their investigations.
