CREATIVE students have designed a mosaic that has been unveiled at a housing project.
Tiling students at East Durham College’s Technical Academy have been working on the project for Gateshead Housing Company to create a mosaic to go on display in the Beacon Lough area of Gateshead.
The work is now complete and has been delivered to the group ready to be fitted into place at the entrance of the site.
Jane Brownlee, estate officer for Gateshead Housing Company, praised the students from the college’s Technical Academy, which is based at Peterlee’s South West Industrial Estate.
She said: “The final mosaic looks great and gives a warm welcome to the main entrance.
“We are really impressed by the workmanship that has gone into it by the students from the Technical Academy.
“A huge thanks goes to both the students and CTD Tiles for making the project happen.
“We hope this isn’t the last time we work in partnership with the Technical Academy.”
The specialist facility, which is part of East Durham College, offers training and skills to people who want to work in the construction trade and runs a number of courses including plastering, tiling, gas, electric and fitted interiors.
