£400 of fuel stolen from lorry

THIEVES stole £400 worth of fuel from a lorry that had stopped in a lay-by overnight.

The articulated truck was parked up off the A689, near Newton Bewley, on the outskirts of Hartlepool, when it was targeted by crooks.

Around 300 litres of fuel was taken from the white DAF vehicle, which had Czech Logistics written on the side.

Police are appealing for help in catching those responsible for the theft that is said to have taken place between 11pm on Thursday, February 17, and 7am the following day.
