POLICE are appealing or information over a suspected arson attack on a caravan which caused a family to flee their home.
Emergency services were called to the blaze in Otterpool Close, Hartlepool, at around 10.30am on Tuesday.
A caravan in the garden had been set alight before spreading to a shed and to the back door and window of the house causing significant damage.
A neighbours managed to alert the occupants inside, who included a five-week old baby, and they escaped safely.
Contractors working nearby called the emergency service.
Police say it is believed the fire was started deliberately and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
